HMS tuition prices September 2008 to July 2009
Dear pupils,
It is once again necessary to inform you that the prices for music tuition with the Harrogate Music School need to rise for the 2008-09 academic year. The main reason for this is to keep the music teachers pay inline with their earnings at other music schools. This is the first rise in the last 2 years, and we are still very competitively priced.
Music tuition rates do vary throughout the region, but it is apparent that some local teachers are charging up to £38.00 per hour lesson next academic year. Non Harrogate Grammar School (HGS) pupils pay slightly more for their lessons for their first 12 months membership of the music school. After that, they pay the discounted rate.

These are the revised Harrogate Music School prices for the academic year September 2008 to July 2009.

Group lessons in preparation for Associated Board Music Theory Grade 5 examinations are available to HGS pupils during one school lunchtime this year. This qualification is necessary in order to enter for the higher instrumental graded music exams and it is also recommended for all school music students of GCSE standard and above. The exact timing of the lessons is yet to be confirmed but is likely to be a Monday or Tuesday in the music department. Please let me know if you are interested in attending and watch the music department notice boards for more information.
Please make sure that you have the contact details of your teacher in case you need to notify them of an absence. We do ask that you give us 24 hours notice whenever possible.
Next term
School reopens for pupils on the 3rd September.
Training days are 3.10.08 and 28.11.08.
Please liaise with your instrumental teachers regarding when your lessons commence.
Music Lesson discounts
This coming year, each Music School member is eligible to receive a £5.00 discount on their music tuition invoice, when they recommend a new pupil to the Music School who starts lessons with us. The more pupils you recommend to join us, the higher your discount. One discount is available per pupil or family that joins.
